The Walking Dead: Thank You (2015)

The worst episode of TWD to date
26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was to me the epitome of what a soap opera is through and through. Prolonged shots of characters staring into each other like sheep or staring self-reflectively into their own reflections, veteran characters making stupid mistakes due to the inexperience of new characters (which if you had read the TWD comics never really happens this far into the story, but what bothers me the most is the slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow progression of story that's plaguing the series since the end of first season. That I'm afraid is the result of TWD not actually being a soap opera since it's based on already established story lines so the series writers are trying to prolong that source of material for as long as they can due to the popularity of the series which in my opinion is killing what made TWD great in the beginning, 0 compromise, 0 apology.

Which leads me to the Glenn issue. Glenn is a very important character to the story and his death in the comic books is a turning point for Rick and Maggie and it defines who they will be up to the point of the present continuing comic series. By having Glenn die to zombies (which shouldn't be happening to anyone this far into the story really) they've undermined the impact of his death truly resonating among characters and fans the way it was meant to be and therefore saying goodbye to everything that happens in the next couple of story arcs leading to the present in the comic. That leads to two options, either Glenn somehow survived and he comes back only to be killed again in the manner that he should've been in the first place, which is obviously devaluing his death even more, or he truly is dead due to zombies, which is fu***** lame in the first place, and they'll have to either kill someone else in the manner that Glenn was killed (which really only leaves Daryl to be the sacrificial lamb since he wasn't in the comics in the first place and has some characteristics similar to Glenn in the comics) or they'll just forget about the greatest villain comic books have ever made and the writers of the series will try their luck at making TWD a 20+ season soap opera. Either way the series in my humble opinion just got irreversibly fu****.
