Not I (1973)
4/10
Atmospheric rambling

Warning: Spoilers
"Not I" is a 12-minute short film from over 40 years ago featuring the voice of BAFTA winner Billie Whitelaw, who died last year, reciting a monologue written by the famous Samuel Beckett. I think it was not a bad film by any means, but still, I am not sure if film is the right genre for this work of Beckett. Maybe theater may be the better approach. We basically only see a mouth moving for the entire film and listen to the random ramblings. There is an atmospheric touch to it that I can't deny, but still I must say after having seen (and heard) this once, I have absolutely no intent to watch (and listen to) it ever again. There is a more recent version by Academy Award winner Julianne Moore which I preferred. All in all, this 1973 version is only worth the watch for the biggest Beckett fans.
