The best episode since the pilot
9 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The pilot of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was great, though none of the subsequent episodes quite lived up to its standard. Hopefully this does not happen again with the second season of the show. In any case, this season opener is quite a ride. Having Cameron "go bad" was a genius idea: it takes the strongest pillar of safety for the Connors and turns it against them. There are at least three scenes that are among the best in the whole series so far: the scene where we see, from Cameron's own point of view, that her mission has changed to "John Connor: Terminate", the scene where John tries to remove her chip within 120 seconds before she wakes up, and the scene where he finally does get the chance to remove her chip but she pleads with him not to, even saying that she loves him. Which gets you thinking about the fine line between having emotions, and faking emotions so well that others may think you have them. The single weakest element of the first season - Sarah's voice-overs which just spelled out the theme of each episode - seem to have been removed, and the surprise at the end is a genuine jack-in-a-box. *** out of 4.
