Wie Tag und Nacht (2013 TV Movie)

Could have been much more with a better script

Warning: Spoilers
This is a 90-minute television movie from 2 years ago. The writer and director is Sibylle Tafel, an experienced small-screen filmmaker. The entire cast all have pretty respectable bodies of work too, even if their names may not be too known to most. I thought the relationship between the two older main characters (the woman and the Turk) was a decent watch most of the time (the wedding scene was fun), but the one between the younger characters was really boring most of the time. The cellist actress also wasn't good, but these two weren't written well at all. Also, there is just too much coincidence sometimes, like when the cop who stands at the door is actually going to be the son-in-law of the main character. Or that the couple suddenly are all at the same party. Here and there, this film has occasionally jokes on religion, like when doormats are mistaking for carpets used for praying etc., but it is all fairly harmless. It's a mix of comedy, family movie and drama, but all in all it does not really deliver convincingly in any of these areas. A bit of everything, but no great elaboration. Not recommended.
