An overlong ad

What the hell did I just watch? Basically this was a feature-long non-stop product placement interspersed with some character impressions, quips, quotes by Byron and wife-cheating presented by - one can only hope - invented personalities with the kind of moronic self-indulgence that the great P.G. Wodehouse would have had a good laugh at.

Brydon is full of it and Coogan most of the time looks like he cannot believe what he's hearing, wishing he were someplace else. It's hard to say how much of that is scripted or if they were really just saying whatever popped into their heads. They must have been aware of that so to spice things up they invented some easy-on-the-eyes female love interests that would never work in real life.

If you want a good travel programme presented by a British comic, watch Michael Palin's documentaries instead.
