Take Care (I) (2014)
9/10
Fresh, funny, and unexpected
16 December 2014
As one other reviewer said, I was expecting a more heavily emotional plot line from the description, but should have known that this movie would be as fun, clever and cute as it is, since it was penned (and directed) by Liz Tuccillo, who writes about relationships better than just about anyone. Great chemistry between leads Bibb and Sadoski--in fact, all the actors do a great job. This story is like a microcosm of a relationship--the entire film takes place mostly in Frannie's (Bibb) claustrophobic NYC fourth-floor walk-up, a perfect metaphor for how trapped she is after a car accident keeps her bedridden for weeks. The best things about the film: the unexpected freshness of the character development and plot, the charm of the leads, the whip-crack dialogue. As a couple of reviewers said, not a weighty or convoluted story, but a really lovely examination of human nature and the nature of love. I smiled most of the way through, laughed out loud a lot, and was left thinking about the movie after it finished
