Journeyman (2007)
7/10
Cancelled before it had the chance to hit its stride
12 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
"Journeyman" is a good time-traveling show that was cancelled before it had the chance to develop into a (potentially) very good time-traveling show. Once the initial premise has been established, most of the early episodes tell pretty self-contained stories that sometimes play like a softer, safer version of the also prematurely cancelled TV show "Tru Calling". But around the middle of the season the episodes start getting stronger, seriously dealing with the physical, emotional, technological, paradoxological complications of time traveling, with a couple of deliberately disorienting twists (like when the hero finds his son replaced by a daughter!). Ultimately, the show was cancelled just when it was truly finding its footing; it's still worth seeing, but you can't help but wonder "what might have been". *** out of 4.
