Blood Glacier (2013)

Hit-and-miss sci-fi horror hybrid of THE THING/THE MIST & FOOD OF THE GODS

BLOOD GLACIER (2014) **1/2 Sci-fi horror from Austrian filmmaker Marvin Kren blends the paranoia/creature feature of THE THING, THE MIST & FOOD OF THE GODS when a scientific expedition in the Alps discovers a microscopic organism has literally taken over a glacier wall and find themselves fending for their lives from the nasty hybrids attacking them. A few moments of unease and atmospheric dread outweigh the faults of the screenplay (including some truly laughable dialogue). While the production feels low-budget at best particularly with some of the monsters, the film works on its own merits for the most part but feels reigned in with the ick factor and could've been even more gorier and frankly fun.
