We love this show. I can see how there are people who are turned off by this show, though. It takes a certain off beat sense of humor to get it.
I would say it's best described as a mash up of The Wonder Years, That 70's Show, and Roseanne. They do yell a lot. But you know what? I know families who are like that. Yes, the mother is overly attached. People, helicopter parenting didn't begin in 2005.
The writer of the show actually videotaped his family in the 80's and this is what the show is based on. His actual family life. They show clips of the original home videos as the credits roll.
I don't know if this show is going to make but we'll enjoy it while it lasts.
