"Hitchcock never congratulated me for doing my job . . . "
6 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
. . . laments actor John Forsythe, who plays Sam, the male lead, in THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY, during this short, THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY ISN'T OVER. Instead of thanking his lucky stars that his character in the feature actually was supposed to be ALIVE (unlike that of the actor playing the title role), Forsythe seems to want his green participation ribbon. I assume his paychecks for acting in this film all arrived, so why this feeling of lack of love from his boss sticks in his mind decades later is not totally understandable. After all, the foreman's job is to make sure that his workers accomplish their assigned tasks. Hitch was willing to go the "extra mile" to accomplish this goal, actually arranging the facial features of the actress playing James Bond's jilted lover so her expression watching THE BIRDS lady's arrival from an upstairs window at Bond's mansion near Philadelphia would be exactly what the moment called for midway through MARNIE. If employees want love, they should look toward their customers (in this case, fan club members), rather than management!
