The back story on this movie is apparently that Cage needs money to pay off his $12 million tax bill. An unbelievable plot infused with characters making completely stupid decisions does not make a good movie.
Teacher Will Gerard's wife is brutally raped, and he makes a deal with a shadowy figure representing a vigilante group. He can't see that this group likely has ulterior motives and that making this deal will incur a debt that he can't pay.
The rest of the story is standard fare. Nobody believes him, and he keeps digging himself deeper and deeper.
If it's free on TV, and you need some brainless entertainment, watch it. If you want a good movie, find something else.
