"Door to Door" suffers from an identity crisis of epic proportions. What starts out with promise as a dark comedy along the lines of "Used Cars", bogs down halfway through in a sappy romance. Lying and cheating their way along the road, super salesman Ron Leibman and his idolizing trainee, Arliss Howard, are likable characters, though somewhat insincere. After the promising beginning, the film deteriorates into nothing more than a series of slapstick skits. The ending is totally unbelievable, unsatisfying, and weak. One last thing. This is the first movie I've seen that proves beyond a doubt that a Cadillac cannot float. - MERK
