Long Game, but beautiful Remake
31 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This game is fantastic. It is a remake of the original Playstation One classic Tomb Raider. And they didn't do a half bad remaking it either. So you're not confused, this game would take place many years before Tomb Raider Legend, for anyone who is new to the series. I was even confused, thinking it was a sequel to Legend at first.

Lara is beautiful in this game, more so than Legend. She looks more human like than ever, and moves more flawlessly than Legend as well. The game basically follows the plot of the original, with some minor changes in lines to make it feel more twenty first century. The game is a lot less blocky than the original, and areas are beautifully put together. The game follows the same plot as the original, with Lara being hired by Jacqueline Natla to find a piece of the Scion, an artifact known to hold information regarding many things that had happened on Earth. But there is a catch in the remake, instead of Lara trying to get the Scion for herself and away from Natla like in the original, in the remake, the Scion was also one of the things Richard Croft, Lara's father, sought after for many years.

The Scion is broken down to three pieces, strewn across Peru, Greece, and Egypt, in which Lara takes many interesting adventures to find all three pieces.

Pros: Lara is beautiful. Game is a lot harder and longer than the original and Legend. Levels are broken up into a few parts, like the original. Many artifacts to collect in each level. As well as Relics to collect in every few levels. Outfits make a return, which are taken from a few old games. Camouflage, which is a redone outfit of the one Lara wears in Angel of Darkness, this is one of my favorite outfits in both games. Wet suit which is redone from Tomb Raider 2's ship levels. Legend, which of course is taken from Legend, and it looks even better on this Lara. And a few others such as Gold, which is what happens when Lara stands on Midas's hand in the Mida's Palace level, Classic, which is a Playstation One Lara in a PS2 game which I thought was pretty cool, and Croft Manor Sport, which is taken and redone from the first, and second games in the series. Time Trials make a return too, which are harder than ever. The Magnums, now 50. caliber pistols, Shotgun, and Uzis, now smgs, make a return as well, and are hidden in levels like the original, but you can now get them from completing Peru from Larson, Greece from Pierre, and the SMGS from The Kid in the first Atlantis level. Bosses from the original return as well, like the T-Rex, Centaurs which both you must kill now, the Torso boss, and Natla. Larson is the only human Lara kills through out the whole game, Piere, The Kid(The Skateboarder from the original), and Kold Kin Kade, who is really creepy in this game I must say.

Cons: Levels are really hard, and can make you frustrated and angry. Sadly with everything else that returned, glitches do also, I have experienced some, but there not too bad. Weird camera angles that can make you frustrated and scream at the screen. Interactive cut scenes also make a return, which can be difficult as well if you're not paying attention. Rage attacks make a return in this game as well, which are hard to do, because you basically have to use it when you kill almost every creature in the game, as well as bosses.

I strongly suggest this game to any Tomb Raider fan, and who want a PS2 revision of a classic game that first came out in 1996!
