Not much of a film

Warning: Spoilers
Not long ago, I practically didn't know any Swedish film. Lately I've been "discovering" a few. Most of them have been okay but not really great. I add this as another one in the list. Considering this one wasn't great, I don't think I will bother to watch its 2 sequels. Like the majority of the other Swedish movies I've seen so far, this one is well filmed, with beautiful and natural nordic scenario, but lacks a decent plot. It was a rather boring film, with a few good moments but that's it. Besides, it became annoying to constantly hear Emil's father angrily yelling "EEEMMMIL!"

Emil is very cute. Despite his angelic face, he is lively, carefree and a prankster by nature. He doesn't do things for bad, though. Like Dennis the menace in the 1993 film, he is a good kid, he just accidentally does mischief. The little girl, Alma, is just as cute but better behaved. Emil and Alma are very well played by Jan Ohlsson and Emy Storm, respectively.

The kids's father is portrayed by a regular actor in movie adaptations of Astrid Lindgren's books. That actor is Allan Edwall, a great Swedish actor.

Cinematography, as I said, is great. The farm scenario is another great help, gives it visual appeal and charm. The action takes place in the district of Lönneberga, in Småland, Sweden.

Something that wasn't very pleasing to see was Emil getting his head stuck in the soup bowl. Twice, to be precise. But at least in the 2nd time they solve the problem immediately, while in the 1st time it takes time to think of measures, which makes it all the more disturbing to watch.
