Delhi Belly - Excretal Comedy!!
4 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Delhi Belly a dark, ruthless comedy about three bachelors and unfortunate events that happen in their life. It is a new kind of cinema for Indian audiences.

Their is nothing noble in the story. It's a clichéd story of diamonds, told million times in Bollywood films. Tashi(Imraan Khan), Aroop(Veer Das) and Nitin(Kunaal Roy Kapoor) live typical bachelor's life in an ugly and filthy apartment. Tashi's girlfriend Sonia (Shenaz Treasurywala) who soon becomes his fiancé, gives him a friend's parcel (containing diamonds) to deliver which later on exchanged with a packet containing Nitin's excreta. Then begins a series of unfortunate events which later on leads to break up b/w Tashi and Sonia as a gang of criminal lead by Somayajulu begins the quest to find their diamonds.

Film is intended for adults as indicated by its trailers which were full of foul language. But sadly their is nothing more than s#it, f@rt noises and abuses. There are lots of disgusting scenes in the movie e.g. when Somayajulu(Vijay Raj) finds human waste in the pot or when crooks ram a cracker in a character's anus or when villain points the gun at Aroop's penis. What I was expecting from this movie were some funny and intelligent humorous dialogs (although there were few) because use of adult language gives you freedom to write those.

Music is the strongest point of the movie. Composed by Ram Sampath all tracks are catchy and supports the films greatly.

To its target audience, youth, movie delivers what it promises. It makes you laugh and it is different from routine Bollywood comedy flicks. It is already a big hit in multiplexes.

Neha Dhupia once said "In Bollywood either Shahrukh is sold or sex". But this time using his promotion tactics Mr. Khan has been able to s#it successfully. Now the question is whether it was a one time exploitation or he has set a new trend.
