Linus tries to convince the Peanuts gang that the Easter Beagle (a.k.a. Snoopy) will take care of everything on Easter Sunday. Meanwhile, Peppermint Patty has trouble painting eggs because Marcie keeps on cooking them (a hilarious running gag which is milked for maximum belly laughs right up until the conclusion) and, in a sweet and endearing subplot, Snoopy helps Woodstock find a better birdhouse replacement for his lackluster nest. Director Phil Roman and writer Charles M. Schulz ably craft a warm and witty little show that benefits greatly from a good-natured tone and an amusing sense of pleasant and inoffensive humor. The best, most inspired, and uproarious joke: A department store is already selling assorted Christmas items at substantial discount prices. Moreover, there's a brief, but delightfully charming sequence showing Snoppy happily dancing with a bunch of adorable bunny rabbits. Vince Guaraldi's sublimely funky'n'jazzy score keeps things bubbling along. A hugely enjoyable affair.
