This labor of love is pure, handcrafted delight. I'm sure Leonardo himself would have gotten a kick out of it. Anybody of any age can enjoy the story and the look, while animation geeks have layers of detail to dig into.
The historical and architectural details of Florence are a hoot. The music is perfectly appropriate. The animation is first rate fun.
Am I biased? Perhaps. In full disclosure, I know just about everybody on the crew. But anybody who knows me knows I won't effuse over a film I don't genuinely like, no matter who made it.
