"Zombies don't have tails!"
12 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The Linton Travel Tavern is closed for refurbishment. The staff are still on duty as Alan is the only guest. He is so bored he even dismantles the trouser press in his room. Catching Sophie doing an unflattering impersonation of him, he decides to get his own back by dressing up as a zombie...

Not one of the stronger episodes, but there's still much fun to be had as Alan tries one stupid thing after another to keep occupied, including a pointless walk along a dual carriageway to a petrol station while singing the theme to 'Goldfinger'. Like 'Basil' in the 'Fawlty Towers' episode 'The Wedding Party', everyone but Alan seems to be getting their ends away. Susan is up for a bit of bedroom action, but he misreads her signals and so she goes to her room alone. Michael ( Simon Greenall ) seems to have the perfect answer to Alan's boredom - steal a traffic cone and shout into it "stop telling me what to do!". Of course it goes wrong, leaving Alan in trouble with the police.

Funniest moment - Alan's zombie impersonation going badly wrong ( with biscuits stuck to his face and a shower curtain round him, he looks about as scary as 'Mr.Magoo' ) Second funniest moment - Alan's fellow D.J. Dave Clifton ( Phil Cornwell ) trying to make light of the cone incident on air, until Alan responds by telling him to 'f--k off'. He then reminds the other man that as his own show has now ended, Clifton is responsible for the behaviour of 'guests', adding "look it up in your cone-tract!".
