Review of Watergate

SeaQuest 2032: Watergate (1995)
Season 2, Episode 16
Good Ending But...
18 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The submarine has a Pop star on board and she is some how connected to the Greek god Neptune. The crew encounter many mysterious visions such as a horse riding through the sub? Here we are at the 16th episode of season two and at this stage the season had gotten so wild that a Greek god appearing was just another day on submarine seaQuest. I don't actually have an issue with the cartoon-ish storyline, in fact I think it is a rather cool idea, but I do have an issue with way it is presented on the screen.

This hour is loaded with unfunny jokes from the guys on the boat and since we have now spent 16 hours with these guys the lads are starting to get on my nerves. The female crew members don't do too well when the director decides to make them more interesting by filming a scene in the shower with the girls naked (we don't see anything).

Normally, Roy Scheider can save this sort of episode but this talented actor has no quality script and no quality guest star to perform with. So he is in deep trouble.

Finally, the hour is made worthwhile in act four by some oddly pleasing images of little seaQuest hovering around some giant underwater statues. But we must go down a bumpy path to get to act four. And as for the rest of season two: I would not even bother watching it!
