When A Guiding Light Is Extinguished
30 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This year's daytime emmy awards aired with the usual tuxedoed, what-she's-wearing, red-carpet fanfare and bulb-popping history making, night-to-remember delivery of sensationalism and letdowns. Who won and who didn't win and who said what and will anyone remember any of this come the dawn?

The anticipated hilight, literally and figuratively speaking, was without a doubt the Guiding Light dedication and retrospective, with more than a tear shed by the disappointed fandom to see their stalwart favorite program come to an end in mid-September.

With the departure of this daytime anchor, will the rest of these soap operatic melodramas stand much of a chance?

How predictable is the writing on the wall for what will befall the hour glass, the hospital, the young, the restless, the bold, the beautiful and all my children?

Will the world stop turning?

Will there only be one life to live?

For now, there was smiles for nominations, bigger smiles when someone else did the winning, but Guiding Light won't be shining any further here or on Another World, and longtime viewers consider this a Capitol offense, but should the other shows follow suit and not even bother to . . . . Search For Tomorrow?
