Review of Kaminey

Kaminey (2009)

I was really looking forward to this movie, and it did not disappoint. Kaminey is a very thrilling ride, and it keeps you captured throughout. The movie is extremely realistic, and the small twists keep you on bay. Kaminey shows how people react upon emotion and desperate measures. The action has been extremely exciting to watch, and the thrills keep your heart racing. The mixture of comedy and action in the same scene is something that is extremely unique, and it shows that little bit of realism that people can see in their normal lives.

The sound-work has been off the hook, mixing old Hindi songs and eerie tracks into the movie has really made the movie look different, and keeps you wondering what thrill will pop up.

To be honest, in the start of his career, I found Shahid Kapoor to be a very over-excited actor, and he even threw in the occasional over-acting here and there. He has REALLY come up as an actor. If you thought he could act in Jab We Met, think again. His action and his acting must really be awarding for this one, he pulled off an awesome role! The other actors are not to be forgotten; Priyanka did a very good job, and is quite a unique sort of character herself. Her make-up and clothing were PERFECT for her character, and a job well done. Some of the villains should be credited for their roles. They did extremely good jobs; be it humor, or violence.

A few drawbacks are the dialogues though. All the dialogues in Hindi are absolutely understandable, but the transition into the other languages, such as Bengali and Marathi, make it hard for the viewers to follow. But you don't miss much; you quickly understand what is going on.

Watch Kaminey, it is very much worth the time.
