Quinceañera (2006)
6/10
Virgin birth
12 December 2006
This is about the Mexican community in Los Angeles and for once, violence isn't the main theme. It's about relations and not just the boy/girl thing, but also the uncle/nephew complications.

A 14-year-old gets pregnant, but not in the usual way. She is thrown out by her father, but she starts to live with this uncle, who has many similarities with a saint. But he is of this world and the learning from the movie, a little too obvious perhaps, is that miracles are all around us and they are most common in everyday life.

Well acted, but maybe a little too touching. Anyway, you can't have enough of "ordinary" people living ordinary lives full of miracles.
