After I saw this... movie? I began to wish that I was the director of it, so that I could kill myself in order to better humanity. There is something to say about a movie, when the best part of it is when there is no dialogue or gratuitous shots of the female body.
This movie is directed towards the sexually frustrated and depraved video game enthusiasts, that satisfies a certain level of "fan service". This term is usually in response to manga, anime, and other forms of media that show random shots of cleavage, panties, bikinis, lingerie, etc..
The only redeeming qualities is that some fighting scenes work for an action film, but these scenes are rare and are usually overshadowed by the fan service. On a final note regarding the fan service, there is a scene that focuses on Volleyball, that fans of the series may recognize from one of the video games.
The dialogue ranks up there with XXX, but the actors are worst than Van Diesel, and don't have the timing down, or are badly directed. The only interesting character relationship is the father-daughter one between Tina and Bass. This brings about humor to an otherwise bland film.
The romance in the film is even less believable than the cheesy special effects. One can easily tell that someone had a lot of money to make this, but this brings up the question on where the money went in terms of actors and screenwriters. I mean, Eric Roberts is in this. Outside of "Best of the Best," is there any movie that starred this guy that made you say "Hey, I can't wait to see that again."? In short, fans of the game series, wait for it to appear on TV if you really want to see it. If you don't see it in the theater, I'm sure it will be there soon. It's on par with "House of the Dead" movie, and I know none of you saw that in the theater. And if you really, want to see this movie because of the girls in bikinis... just watch porn. In comparison, you'll feel much better about yourself afterwords.
