Epitome of Indian classical music
24 September 2006
Honestly, i did not expect the movie to be on the database. Nevertheless I am very happy that it is indeed here. The film is one of the best ever made by G.V Iyer it plays with every emotion of the human mind. The film portrays the rich culture of Indian classical music. Prdominantly Karnatic style . Set in the 18th century, its a story of Venkata Subbaiah, played brilliantly by Ananth Nag. His initial struggle to learn music, how he rises up to be a Court Pundit, his arrogance which causes his fall and finally how he finds peace within himself and nature.

The film has been shot very beautifully, major part of the shooting has been done in Hampi. One can't expect less from the legendary director G.V Iyer. All in all its a good movie if you are an enthusiast of Indian classical music. Although, I have not been able to find a copy for myself. Nevertheless I never miss it when its aired on the TV.
