Should be called "The Louis Simo Story"
8 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This film is shown from the perspective of a fictional character, Louis Simo, who is shown in between flashbacks of the circumstances concerning the death of George Reeves. While Adrien Brody delivers a good performance, the other characters with the exception of Bob Hoskins deliver wooden performances. Hollywoodland should explore George Reeves, who was a hero, to my generation until his untimely death. Instead it treats us to Louis Simo who stumbles all around the controversial details of Mr. Reeves' death as a fictional private investigator. The flashbacks are hardly vibrant and do not expose any new details on Mr. Reeve's death. Sitting in a theater of my contemporaries, it was easy to see that the audience was not into the "Louis Simo story." Instead, when the live of George Reeves was detailed, albeit in small already known doses, the audience leaned forward desiring more knowledge. Unfortunately, that knowledge never is delivered and the audience left on a low - no cheers, no uplifting moments, with a sad commentary on the life and times of Louis Simo.
