Sleeper was my favorite character in this film. They shouldn't have knocked him off. He was worth lots of yuks and had the best dialog. I must confess I did doze off just before Van resigned from the force, so maybe I'm a little partial to the character of Sleeper.
When Van was having his shoes shined and seeking info from the shoe shine guy I almost expected Leslie Nielsen to wander into the scene. It was straight out of Police Squad.
