Sale of the Century (1971–1997)
Entertainment at its absolute worst ......
22 December 2005
What a load of cack this was ? It used to be shown on Sunday evenings with the unbelievably patronising Nicholas Parsons asking questions worth one three or five pounds. Added to this we had to put up with Peter Fen on his organ which had such a bad tone it sounded like it was coming out of a walkman speaker. Where did they find the contestants, they were so unbelievably stupid and lacking in general knowledge that it was a safe bet the top prize would stay intact. In what was supposed to be the golden era of British quiz shows this was truly dreadful and it had long outstayed its welcome when it was finally axed – however, there was far far worse to come. The show was put back on the air on Challenge TV with the incredibly annoying Keith Chegwin as host. This was an even cheaper version of the original made even worse by Chegwin saying ERRRGH before asking each question. Hopefully this monstrosity is off the air forever …..
