Documentary style - excellent air-to-air cinematography
6 December 2005
This is a documentary style film - however, the story flows and the air-to-air cinematography is excellent.

The bonus chapters on the DVD have some of the best air-to-air footage. The Pitts special work out is amazing. All of the aerial work is a testament to the pilotage and formation flying of the pilots as well as good direction.

I think that the orchestrated music is used slightly too much - I prefer the guitar pluckings of Freddy Clarke.

In summary this is an excellent summary of Van Nuys and also a good insight in to General Aviation in the US.

I think that to do full justice - one needs to watch this movie on a large screen with a good surround sound system. My TV/stereo did not do it full courtesy.

I concur with other comments - if you get to see this in a cinema, do it! Enjoy - hopefully there will be other such great movies from this team.
