I watched this movie multiple times. It touched me a great deal. A poor Chinese girl (Xiao Yu) who needed a Green Card to stay in the US, she and her boyfriend (an illegal Chinese immigrant) decided to make a deal with a poor/old American man who spent every penny on alcohol to keep him toxicated. He needed some urgent cash to pay for his bills. Her boyfriend borrowed some money from his friends to pay the old man so he and Xiao Yu can fake a marriage as husband and wife. INS agents checked on them often to make sure this was a legit marriage before they could grant her the Green Card. The story sounds simple, but very moving. Her fake marriage with the old man had an happy ending. If you understand Manderin, you will enjoy this movie more.
