Great 1950's Noir
5 January 2005
I used to see this film on television late at night and I thought it was incredibly bizarre the first time I viewed it.

After the third or fourth viewing I was hooked and then it was no longer shown on my local television station.

With the advent of video and cable television (mainly Turner Classic Movies) I now own a copy on VHS and DVD but I still tune in whenever it appears on cable TV.

In my opinion this movie deserves 10 stars. A mood is set from the very beginning and the mood continues to the very end. It is unrelenting, extremely violent and surreal.

Now that I own the DVD I can actually now watch the original ending that was always cut or shortened for television.

I will not go into the plot because there are six pages of comments, I just wanted to add that it is one of my top 5 favorite movies.
