A very perceptive comedy
3 November 2004
'So this is Romance' uniquely looks at men as the weaker sex, portraying them as maybe the way they really are underneath all that surface bravado. Above all by turning the tables for a change this film manages to reveal some fascinating and very amusing male views on the fairer sex. The protagonists Reece Dinsdale and John Hannah are walking disasters when to comes to women, and this is what makes the film all the more amusing. Many situations ring a bell when it comes to the trials and tribulations of relationships, the women Clara Bellar and Victoria Smurfitt are perfect opposites for Mike, making you realize his dilemma. Mike's drunk father beautifully played by Frank Finlay, gives you every reason to believe that the future is as hopeless as his when it comes to finding true love. A lovely witty movie.
