Review of Tosun Pasa

Tosun Pasa (1976)

a credit to "so green was my valley"
26 October 2004
a state-of-art movie for its time, representing a credit to "so green was my valley", written by Saban Tellioglu. God bless him. The scenario takes place in Egypt of 19th century, where people love corn. The romance of two families is really very dramatic as it comes from a very deep history. However thehouse of Seferogullari appears to be more successful, when compared with Tellioglu. It is a fact that both Tosun Pasa and Ibrahim Pasa are historical characters of Turkish, Ottoman and Egyptian history but the Turkish bathroom for women scene seem unrealistic with the composition of the songs they sing, as that composition belongs to Balkanian folk song, so-called "sarkoy turkusu" of 19th century.
