Irony of marriage
13 July 2004
Warning: Spoilers
The title of the movie is from the title of a novel which is written by Mauricio.

This movie is about two married couples who are looking for excitement in their marriages.

Catalina, portrayed by Silvia Pinal, and Ruben, portrayed by Joaquin Cordero, are a couple which have been married for about five years, have no spice in their marriage. Ruben, cheats on her, hanging out with his friends which take him to parties with girls, comes home late to his wife Catalina. Catalina wants sex, but he's to tired and Catalina gets frustrated.

One night when Ruben comes in late, Catalina waits for him, she wants sex, he doesn't, so Catalina gets mad. She storms out of the bedroom and watches television. At that time, she sees in a program in which Mauricio, portrayed by Mauricio Garces, is advertising his novel, and announces that he will be autographing copies of his novel at a certain bookstore. By the way, Mauricio and Catalina are old flames. Mauricio has a wife Adriana, portrayed by Ofelia Montesco, who does not approve of her husband's novel because she is in a women's catholic organization. Mauricio wants sex, she doesn't.

Catalina looks for Mauricio, and they start following each other.

The first time I saw this movie, I was 12 years old, and didn't know much about life, love and marriage (who does at this age, right?). Later on, I saw it again, and understood why married couples cheat. Basically I saw it because of Mauricio Garces. I enjoy his movies very much.

If you want some good, clean, classic humor, I sure recommend this movie.

Enjoy.
