Great film dealing with many of the same issues as Fight Club
12 August 2002
Big brother becomes big sister in this complex, 1999 Finnish film. It probably seemed a cliche, feminist movie when released, or even a copycat of Fight Club with a female slant, but is so much more and gains far more weight in the context of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks. As a character in the film itself might note, it's sad that it requires such an event for the deeper security and freedom issues this film addresses to become apparent.

Still, it manages to be funny without detracting from the story. If there's a drawback to the film, it's that the subtitles often go by quickly. Fortunately, it could have been a silent movie and still had been understood. Great acting. Hollywood quality visual FX and soundtrack.
