Die Unschuld der Krähen (1998 TV Movie)
7/10
CERTAINLY WORTH A VIEW
16 April 1999
This is a fine scripted adaptation of Woolrich's novel, and, although one can not be totally be carried away by the film, certainly worthwhile viewing. The weakness lies in the directing; it is competent, but lacks an overall grip of the subject: some scenes are just routine, others are spirited. What does not convince e.g. is the sudden change in attitude of Georg; one just has to accept it.

The spirited scenes are those including both lead players (Nina Petri and Joachim Kroll): they give the film its strength. They are simply splendid in portraying the tragic couple and by that the tragic love story. From the first moment the viewer is concerned with their relationship and they keep the viewer in tension and moved.
