Review of The Odd Job

The Odd Job (1978)
Hilarious film of Monty Python alumni
14 April 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Graham Chapman stars in this comedy about a man who construes to have himself assassinated after a heated argument with his wife. A meek man(David Jason) knocks at Chapman's door looking for a job. Chapman says he has just the 'thing'. Murder for Hire. The hilarity follows Chapman and Jason through London as Jason tries and fails time and again to murder Chapman,...as Chapman had instructed. Joining Chapman here are Diana Quick(the wife), Simon Williams(the best friend), George Innes(the Doorman), Michael Elphick(The Gangster) and a host of British character actors who round out the cast of this hilarious movie. The movie may disagree with some with it's dark/noiristic satire concerning murder for hire. I won't reveal the ending here because it would be too much of a spoiler. But I found that each time I pull this movie out to view, I end up enjoying it and understanding it's dark theme ever more. This is a treat of a different sort from a Python alunm. See it if you can find it.
