Exclusive: Zoic Studios, the VFX firm behind Game of Thrones and The Twilight Zone, is adapting AI graphic novel thriller Mnemosyne as it steps up its push into original content.
The company has partnered with digital comic book company Tapas Media, which has been described as the YouTube of comics and the Candy Crush for books, on the project, which is being set up for television and cross-platform adaptation.

In today’s film news roundup, “Screwball” is getting a domestic release in the spring, Brian Goldsmith re-ups at Lionsgate, horror novel “Snowblind” is in the works as a film, and “Room 13” has been cast.

Greenwich Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to baseball doping documentary “Screwball” and plans a theatrical release to coincide with the start of the Major League Baseball season in April.
The film, directed by Billy Corben (“Cocaine Cowboys”), centers on the Alex Rodriguez/Biogenesis doping scandal, which broke in 2013 when several Mlb players were accused of obtaining performance-enhancing drugs such as human growth hormone from the now-defunct rejuvenation clinic Biogenesis of America.
“Screwball” premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and recently played at DocNYC. Corben and Alfred Spellman produced under their Rakontur banner.

After whittling down a list from more than 1,200 applicants, The Black List has the seven screenwriters to participate in its fifth annual Feature Writers Lab.
The writers, none of whom has made more than $100K in their writing careers, and their scripts are:
Amber Alexander, Juniper’s Point
Chris Basler, The Enclosed
Ryan Jow, Windfall
Halia Meguid, Monsters of Philsdelphia
Cody Newton, American Patriot
Kim & Mai Spurlock, The Breakline
All seven writers will participate in a residential workshop from August 5-11 in Manhattan Beach, CA, Each writer will workshop one screenplay through peer workshops and one-on-one sessions with working professional screenwriting mentors. They also will attend a series of events and screenings that will further expose them to the realities of a life as a professional screenwriter.
