4. Impenetrable (I) (2023)

20 min | Short, Comedy | Completed

Jules has a big goal for her birthday and an even bigger obstacle to overcome: herself.

Director: Geena Pietromonaco | Stars: Geena Pietromonaco, Annie Barry, Matthew Vergara

I'm sick of comedy about women's snatches. All it does it reaffirm that most women aren't creative comedic writers. "Hey, let's talk about my snatch! Let's make jokes about my snatch!"

I had to close my eyes throughout the film to rest. I was shocked that the film was 1hr 30m; it felt incredibly long. The filmmakers and producers are impressively delusional. They seem well meaning, I guess, but I am nonetheless highly critical of their naive worldview. It seems like they really believe that world peace can be brought about simply by "global cooperation" and global equity brought about by a one world gov't organization not beholden to democratic institutions. The naive attitude the film displays about global nonprofits was extraordinarily naive and revealed their lack of any deep knowledge about how nonprofits are really run based on a profit-motive. I can't believe how much money was thrown at this production. I hope it was at least personally gratifying to whoever thought this up; it's clearly a specific individual's delusional pipe dream.

Cliche, boring, bad writing (in English by an Italian), pointless side plots, pointless main plot, no action, lots of people sitting in rooms talking about successful "initiatives" and taking zoom calls...
