My Favorite Actors in no particular order.

Her ability to add powerful nuance to her scenes is unique. Her scene in "The Post" the one where she was on the phone deciding whether or not to publish "The Pentagon Papers" is emblematic of her skill. She takes you right along with her character's indecision in that powerful scene, her best of the movie.

He will always be "Captain Miller" in my mind. The greatest War movie in my opinion. Spielberg is a genius. I'm quite sure he's tired of hearing that. lol

Something about her eyes captivates me. I can't stop looking at her when she's on screen.

Versatile and so very irreverently funny. No sacred cows for him when he makes his quips. A very likable public persona. He strikes me as truly humble, not just pretending to be so.

I really discovered this guy in the Star Trek movie of 2009. Actually, they really nailed the casting on this entire movie. A film of his you must see is "Hell or High Water" with the wonderful Ben Foster & Jeff Bridges, who both appear elsewhere on this list.

Who else could have done justice to the Original "True Grit" and to The Duke? His screen presence is powerful. If you want to really know why the dialogue is so memorable in either of these film versions of "True Grit", you MUST read the book the movie was based upon. Read the Charles Portis novel of the same title. You won't regret it.

One of those "Chameleon" type actors. A truly gifted character/supporting actor. I can't put my finger on why he has not broken it huge as a leading man. I'll watch anything he's in. Why the man did not get an Oscar Nomination for his role in "Hell or High Water" is beyond me.

I really grew to appreciate his style when I saw, "The Book of Eli" He has such an easy and natural style about himself whether he's playing a lover or a killer and does so often in the same film.

So talented that she makes it look easy. It's been her life. She is so lucky to have found her place in life at such an early age. So many child stars have deteriorated with the brutal onslaught of early fame. She must be a very level headed person and a true pro at her craft.

What a true talent. I hesitate to admit I don't know much of her early career, but it seems she has classical experience and training. I just loved her performance in "The Hundred Foot Journey" A simply heartwarming film.

One of the few to make the transition from The Silent Screen to "The Talkies". She is a triple Academy Award Nominee. She turned in what is rightfully considered one of the greatest screen performances of all time in, "Sunset Boulevard" as Norma Desmond opposite the often overlooked William Holden. She left this world in 1983.

Who honestly thought at the time that the Bartender from Cheers would become an Hollywood "A" Lister? I just re-watched "True Detective" Season 1 and it only solidified his place in my mind as one of the finest.

From his smoldering intensity in "True Detective" to his subtle yet stand-out portrayal of a man of science in a post apocalyptic future world of Luddites in "Interstellar" he is a truly versatile actor. The intelligence that rises to the surface in his roles is what draws me to his work.

Like most actors on this list, I discovered her a bit later in her career when I saw "Fargo". That convinced me she was first rate. I come from the Midwest and she nailed it. Well, she should have since she's an Illinois native. Truly gifted.

He has a good bit of range beyond what most give him credit for. You can rightfully consider him the ultimate "Gangster" type cast. And I would agree. He nails it each time. But look at the range of work he's completed. From "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" to "The Intern" to Sam Rothstein in "Casino". One of the Greats. Not to mention 97 Oscar nominations. Take that in for a minute... 97. Now I must be honest, to me that 2015 appearance on Letterman with Dustin Hoffman was hard to stomach. It had to be a put on. The guy could barley speak. He had to look at Hoffman before speaking. I wanted to puke. It was silly.

He's got this great ability to rant and they let him do it in most of his movies. He does the gangster thing as well as De Niro. And he's played some characters that are about as far from that as you could imagine. "Scent of a Woman" was a revelation. An iconic role. And capping off his versatility with "You Don't Know Jack" He even played Joe Paterno. One of the all time greats.

Versatile and he brings a certain physicality to his roles. You can expect a quality film if he's involved.

An actor with tremendous ability. Young people who might be unfamiliar with this legend should start with the prototype of the Noir style of film making "The Maltese Falcon" In this film the character Mr. Bogart portreys is "Sam Spade". If you don't know who that is, let me inform you that you've been watching him copied and honored in every film and TV detective for the last 80 years! If you only see one "Bogey" film, make it "The Maltese Falcon"!

A pretty versatile actor with a likeable on-screen presence. His opening wise-cracks in, "Lockout" were golden. "Oh. It was coupon night. I was trampolining your wife."

One of the biggest stars of his era at MGM. If you want a real treat, watch the 1934 film, "The Thin Man" Costarring the wonderful Myrna Loy. Their boozy, breezy banter will have you smiling! That's a promise!

One of the greatest actors of our time. One can see this in watching the first 6 minutes of, "Lincoln" No living man has met A. Lincoln, but from all that I have learned about him, Day has done his homework and produced a timeless portrayal of the man.

Not often mention in the list of "great actors" But the man can play anyone. Just look at "The Magnificent Seven" , "The Cell" & Full Metal Jacket" A pretty diverse group of characters. He's a real chameleon.

He has great range. I came to realize this when watching, "The Fighter", with Mark Wahlberg. I've enjoyed many of Wahlberg's films. But Bale made him look like a rank amateur in that film.
