Plenty of weird things in this expensive trainwreck. Not since John Sayles has there been a romantic lead like Richard Hart. Not since the Michael Jackson/Lisa Marie kiss has there been a kiss as creepy as Richard Hart/Lana Turner. But the real reason I'm listing this turgid dung heap is for its earthquake sequence. It's worth the price of admission.

This is a movie Hollywood should be ashamed of. Appallingly bad writing, acting, direction, casting, stereotypes and sediments. Movie leaves a very weird taste in your mouth. Just a grotesque train wreck but just try and look away. It even has terrible blue-screening.

Votes: 2,665

Well, to begin with Mike Mazurki and Woody Strode plays a Mongolian warlords!!!! Margaret Leighton as a the pompous Mother superior yearning for Sue Lyon's loins. It's all in very bad taste and makes for very weird viewing. And oh, that ending.

Votes: 7,149

Weird for many reasons. A Sidney Lumet misfire to start with. Absurd casting of Anna Magnani as Lady. Victor Jory, with one twentieth the screen time, stealing the movie from Brando. And last but not least, that it took all this time for me to list it.

Votes: 604,822 | Gross: $32.38M

There's nothing weird about Jake Gyllenhaal being snubbed by the Academy for a Oscar winning worthy performance of a deathly determined sociopath . At least DeNiro was nominated for Taxi Driver. This was a snub.

Director: Millard Kaufman | Stars: Ben Gazzara, Stuart Whitman, Ray Walston, Vincent Price

Votes: 546

Childhood favorite. It had Ray Walston and Sammy Davis Jr. and as a kid ten years old that was all I needed. It's weird to look back on it now. The Leonard Rosenman jazzed-out, downbeat score, the many cameos, one absolutely outtasight long dolly shot of Stuart Whitman and Broderick Crawford showing how it's done, Millard Kaufman's shmaltzy direction in his only directorial effort, the few innuendos they could get away with in 1962 and a patented Ben "I'm so conflicted" Gazzara turn made this stroll a nostalgic albeit weird one. Incidentally, I was curious to see who played Paradise but that will have to remain a mystery.

Unbelievable. Dean Martin is governor (I don't know how it happened) after marrying good-time girl Susan Hayward, baggage and all, weeks before the election. Warning: Heck of a movie but it does contain a very objectionable scene of the actual shooting of a fox. The late sixties/early seventies penchant for pairing strong sexuality and actual cruelty to animals is the point at which I say artistic freedoms have gone to far and endangers the future of those very freedoms. Am I being naive? Maybe. Cabela sponsors dozens of "killing" shows that are shot into millions of homes everyday. I'm reminded of Vernacchio's play in Satyricon.
