What about the tunnels?
19 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this and binged it in 2 days, but lots of things really annoyed me.

Like the family finds out from a previous owner that there could be tunnels going into their house, which explains why random people keep turning up in it. But nevermind, they just forget about that until a few episodes later when a tunnel is actually found. They then never show the tunnel being covered over. Its so frustrating to watch! You wouldnt just ignore a tunnel going into your house when some weirdo is sending you threatening notes and murdering your pet.

Theres also loads of storylines that dont go anywhere. Like the couple across the road in matching tracksuits who trespass on their lawn and look menacing, turn into this harmless couple who never trespass at all and give up on the matching clothes.

Also the daughter posts a video online about her dad being rascist. Something that was relevant in the episode for all of 2 minutes.

A blood cult is mentioned, but doesnt come up again.

Music is said to be played in the house on its own... never mentioned again.

And all the characters look fishy and unrealistic. Maybe thats the point, but even the theoretically good ones behave oddly, like Theodora. She basically told the family nothing, just goes on and on about new suspects only to then say it can't be them.

And the Dad is an absolute nutter, he becomes stupidly obsessed with the watcher.

I did enjoy watching it but it was a bit nonsensical and a lot of the events were made up compared to the real life story.

Monster House (2006)
5/10
A wee bit scary
12 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I assumed this was a kids movie, but its definately not appropriate for little kids. I'm a mum and I found it a bit scary. Its not just the monster house and the creepy scenes, but also some aspects to it are a bit dark. Some of the characters get eaten by the house and dont come back (I sort of assumed they would in order to give it a happy ending). The characters are also not all that nice.

To be honest I dont think there are even jokes that children would appreciate.

As an adult it was OK, it passed some time but I wouldnt really recommend it to others.

It looks more like an adult film that happens to be animated.

7 for the music
12 October 2022
I initially gave this film a six because it lost me in the last half hour, plus I started rooting for the American guy (I no longer see romance in waiting years for someone to love you).

However I've changed my rating to a 7 because I am addicted to listening on youtube to Emily Blunt singing the Wild Mountain Thyme song, its so pretty.

I also found it funny how she kept trying to guess what was "wrong" with Anthony, although I found the scene itself a bit slow.

Overall its a sweet film and its easy to watch. I probably would recommend it to family to see if they're floundering about for something to watch on Netflix and dont need anything too exciting.

I cant believe I wasted a day on this
22 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
6 hours almost of my life gone on this drivel.

It was really promising for the first few episodes, albeit a bit slow, and I was excited for the twist ending I had heard about.

But honestly, this "twist" is so overdone now.

Think "The Skeleton Key" and "Get Out". And even if it was a novel concept, I had sat down for a normal thriller, not some sci fi rubbish.

Urgh.

Got better in the second hour but just too long!
7 November 2021
The first hour was a real slog, i didnt warm to any character, and there were too many unncessary songs and scenes. It improved in the second half but not enough to make me want to recommend it to anybody.

Cute and lovable
13 March 2021
I'm 34 and do not have anxiety disorder, nor do I know anyone that does. I am clearly not the intended audience for this program.

However, it has a talking dog in it, caring friendships, funny/annoying parents and is lighthearted and fun. What's not to like? I binged the whole thing in 24 hours :D I hope they make more.

I liked it
6 October 2020
I recently became a mother myself, and so "fondly" remember being pregnant. Although i realise that this movie is about a fake pregnancy, many of the things that happen and the reactions of the people around her are realistic and made me feel reminiscent of my pregnant days. I kind of understood why she started to get into faking it. It isn't a blockbuster movie but it does feel close to home, which ironically is what the book in the movie is trying to do too, by showing a real insight into a pregnant woman's life and how pregnancy changes you. Overall i enjoyed it and did laugh in places.

What happened?
4 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really have no idea what happened. I didnt know 20 minutes in, 30 minutes in, 1 hour in, or by the end. My husband was like "maybe we will find out at the end". Well we didnt. I dont know if I'm just dumb and that's why I didnt get it, or if it was that confusing. The reviews here comfort me a little in that other people dont seem to understand what happened either.

Theres no plot synopsis online anywhere, so I guess that nobody in the world was able to figure it out and summarise it online. Some of my questions:

Who even was Ben Afflecks character and why did he care what Anne Hathaway was doing

What relevance did her mum dying/her daughter/her breast cancer have

What story was she covering

Who were all the people she stayed with and why did she get suspicious of them and keep moving around

Why did Ben Affleck wait till the end of the movie to kill her if that's what he wanted to do

Who helped her change her name and why

I just feel like I watched a whole load of scenes with a tonne of acting but none of the scenes were explained and I dont have a clue who anyone was.

Ahwell at least our baby fell asleep.

Horrible hair
18 February 2020
The movie is alright, but his hair drove me nuts. Bleached blonde wavy hair (on a guy aswell). Yuk! I think I could have enjoyed it more if his hair was less annoying.

Eddie's mum brought it up to a 4/10
17 February 2020
Weirdest and most random movie I've seen in a while, but not in a good way.

The saving grace was Eddie's mum, who did some pretty cool son-defending towards the end of the movie. The rest of it was all awful.

Ruined the first movie
17 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This must be the first time ever a sequel has actually managed to ruin the previous film. I'm referring to the sweet hot tub scene in the first movie, where Peter waits patiently for Lara Jean, not knowing whether she is coming or not, but not giving up on her. He was perfect throughout the first movie, and made my mid-30s self go all dreamy over a teen romcom. This sequel ruined that, by revealing that Peter was waiting for Gen instead, and had totally given up on chasing Lara Jean. In typical guy fashion, he just settled for her as she arrived before Gen, and that's what their relationship is then based on. I don't know if that is Netflix's fault, or the writers, as I haven't read the books, but for me it ruined the first movie, which up to this point was the sweetest movie on Netflix.

On top of this, Peter was horrible throughout the whole movie. We find out that he takes LJ to the same restaurant he always took Gen, he doesn't bother to serenade LJ on valentines day, like he used to with Gen, he keeps talking to Gen behind LJ's back (although we find out why), and when LJ breaks up with him over all the heartache, he doesn't bother to fight for her; there is just a really disappointing, silent, aquarium scene where she gives the necklace Peter got her back to him. To be honest, if I hadn't seen the first movie and loved it, I would be saying 'who on earth is this guy?' and rooting for John Ambrose.

I'm so disappointed, because not only was this film rubbish, but I won't be able to watch the first movie in the same way again, knowing what a player Peter really was. Romance has completely died. Honestly. Way to go, Netflix.

Unlikeable Male lead
26 January 2020
This was a nice movie and the female lead was charming. The male lead on the other hand was boring and kind of selfish with no personality. I think the movie has an odd message, in that a single woman needs to get married or be in a relationship so she therefore hooks up with this character even though he makes no effort with anything and is kind of a waste of space.

Unbelievable
6 January 2020
I've never previously thought of katherine Heigl as a bad actress, but she was awful in this. Really overexageratted and unbelievable as a character. The other characters were ok but the storyline was so ridiculous that they didnt make the movie worth watching.

I gave it a 5 because it was alright to watch if you accept its just something to pass 80 minutes

Watchable but what an ugly angel
17 December 2019
My main gripe is, if you're gonna make a movie based around an angel one of the characters has made, cant you at least make a pretty angel? She was probably the ugliest angel I've ever seen.

Also, the female lead made so many annoying faces, and the plot was fairly predictable.

But it wasn't all bad; a watchable TV movie.

I wanted to like it but just can't
21 October 2019
I was looking for a new show to watch, and I am just about to become a mum, so this seemed like a decent show to try. However, having struggled through season 1 and toyed with the idea of starting season 2 (i watched about 10 minutes of the first episode) I have finally given up.

The characters are just not likable. Nobody seems to love their babies except the dads in the show, who are also loving and faithful. The mums are all horrible and don't love their husbands and half the time want to cheat. Apart from the lesbian couple who seem to have other issues entirely. Its just not a feel good show and i didnt find it funny at all. I can understand that being a mother cant always be easy, but there's no love at all in these characters.

Gossip Girl (2007–2012)

Kind of addictive but admittedly awful
16 August 2019
I'm not sure why i watched this all the way through because it annoyed the hell out of me. I guess i was interested in the Blair - Chuck relationship even though it was so unrealistic and unhealthy at times.

Most of the characters are unbearable. Serena was the worst. Spoilt teenager in shiny outfits who continually made mistakes and screwed over her friends, and as soon as her friends told her she had screwed them over and cut her out of their lives, she would do something even worse instead of apologising. So the scheming just went on and on and was so annoying.

Nate had no personality whatsoever, he was just a pretty boy for the female characters to all sleep with at some point.

Dan became more likeable towards the end when he stopped chasing after Serena like an idiotic puppy, but most of the time his character was just a drip. He was supposed to be one of the most intelligent characters and yet he made such stupid decisions like knowingly missing an interview for the sole reason of waiting for Serena to accompany him to the interview place. Argh.

And the supporting characters seemed to exist just to annoy us even more. Vanessa and Ivy, both with annoying voices and both constantly manipulating and messing with the main characters and pretending to be saints. And sleeping with all the guys, because apparently in every friendship circle everyone sleeps with everyone and falls in and out of love with each other on a whim.

Honestly i spent most of the series on wikipedia checking in advance that the characters wouldnt get away with whatever horrible scheme they had just came up with.

Blair and Dorota were the saving graces of the show and added a touch of humanity and likeability that pulled me through to the last episode. Without them I would have just quit in season 1 after Serenas 5th hair flick. Even Chuck was likeable by the end, as, ironically, he was the character who was least interested in going in and out of relationships with every female character and just focused on Blair and his business. And his dog. Gotta love the dog.

Its not got many dogs in it
27 May 2019
Sounds silly but i was attracted by the prospect of many dogs. They're not in the movie much and the movie itself is kind of mundane. Hence 5.

Too dark for my liking
26 May 2019
I kind of forced myself to watch the whole series as I didnt really enjoy watching it.

It's dark, and Amy's character just isn't likable. She is an alcoholic with a troubled past but I don't find that it explains all the self harm and weirdness. And i get that she wants to cover up her body, but did she have to wear the same clothes every day for the 8 episodes?

As the story is so centered around her, in every scene, it makes it hard going if you can't at least empathise with her. And the first episode in particular is really long and not much happens.

All in all it is a good thriller but it's slow going and depressing and it's hard to understand what the point is.

Enjoyable movie, but a copycat
15 April 2019
My biggest problem with this movie is that it won an Oscar for best original screenplay, when actually it's based on a very similar movie that came out over 10 years before it, called the Skeleton Key.

It's an enjoyable movie, but was not a surprise for me, because I could see the twist from a mile away, having seen the Skeleton Key.

Enjoyable but weak in parts
28 February 2019
I enjoyed this movie for what it is. As far as romcoms go its nice and I cared enough to keep watching. I would say though that Camilla Belle's acting was awful, I can't imagine why she was in the film. All the scenes with her were not very believable and had no life in them. Also the attempt at doing a more serious subplot with the legal case they won was really quite naf. I enjoyed Alexa Vega's storyline though, and was more interested in seeing what happened to her and making sure she got her happy ending.

Dull and too long
24 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I like Emily Blunt and I don't mind Jason Segal, however neither of them looked like they could really be bothered to be in the movie. Jason's character was depressing and dull even when he was about to propose to Emily's character, and he stayed that way throughout the entire film. Emily's character was selfish and I just didn't really believe the love between the two of them. Maybe love is not perfect but she didn't seem that bothered when he left, and yet they had to end up together at the end..., why because they hadnt found happiness elsewhere? I Just didnt really believe it. And it was so long and unfunny that it just wasn't worth it.

Not funny
16 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a fan of Greg Davies from Cuckoo and thought I would enjoy this, but I didn't. Too many rude jokes and making fun of his parents or people he has met in his life. Long, unfunny annecdotes which I can't really believe are true. I won't be watching more of his shows.

A bit unrealistic
13 February 2019
This movie would be fine if the guy hadnt left the girl at the altar at the beginning of the movie and then disappeared for 10 years. I have a hard time believeing that any woman who that happened to would just fall back in love with the guy without so much as an apology from him. She punched him once as payback and then they were back on good terms. It feels like most of the movie overlooked that unforgivable first scene and pretended it happened happened. All in all a nice story but felt really head-in-the clouds unrealistic. This girl should know her own worth!!

Bit weird but watchable
1 February 2019
I agree with the other reviews that the film is a bit messy with many plots that dont seem to tie together. The saving grace is the silent husband and his subtitled conversations. So funny and random but weird.

Bhoot
14 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I can't even think about the majority of the film because I'm just heartbroken about Bhoot. Poor little Bhoot. I spent the rest of the movie since the scene where Mowgli broke his friend's heart worrying about him and waiting for the make up scene, only to find his head on a stick. I don't understand what kind of sick plot twist this is. Doesn't the director realise there are animal loving happy-ending desiring viewers out there? I mean i might expect it if it was some war movie or such like, but its the jungle book. I kind of thought cute innocent animals would be safe. Not happy. I desire a post-credit confirmation that at least it was not Bhoot in the hunter's collection but some other albino wolf. And poor Bhoot's mum who was trying to protect his feelings. I mean sheeesh. Not cool Jungle Book. Not cool.
