Another win for the Marvel fans.

In short Captain Marvel is yet another origin story a building block I'm quite tired of seeing luckily it starts midway through the transition from person to hero, although all is revealed through flashbacks. All in all its a fun ride well worth watching for the Marvel fans.

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel brings her own brand of snark that's different enough yet fits right in with the heroes we've seen so far, even if she is overshadowed by her fantastic co-stars.

Samuel L. Jackson as Fury is a blast as a less hardened fresh of the block agent who proves his resourcefulness time and time again. Him and Brie have a great chemistry that is a treat to watch.

Ben Mendelssohn as Talos absolutely steals every scene he's in definitely a great addition to the "villains" roster.

Jude Law as Yon-Rogg also steals every scene he is in an absolute delight to watch with a good arc revolving around him.

Choreography: hand to hand combat scenes in this are very well made with some unique interesting combo's however a fight on a spaceship towards the beginning of the film is edited really chopily for some reason it really let's it down as well as one fight towards the end being too dark to even see.

Cinematography: Everything for the most part is pretty well done I enjoyed it quite a bit bar one scene towards the end where she learns to fly was shot really bizarrely and in an effort to look cool it just comes across goofy.

Special shoutouts to Goose and Cousin also Hala looked amazing.

A decent movie

Movie is good but after watching all the awesome previous works from Marvel it kind of seems like out of date it should have been released in phase 2 I suppose then it's must have been super awesome... the to connect with end game it's a must watch .. there are no actual flawes in movie ..it's a good step to have a lead to Brie Larson cast team u got my respect..it's just great to see it release on women's day too.. Now Marvel seems serious about women centric characters ..in short It's a great movie but just in wrong timeline it should be earlier..😊

No character development, and bad writing. It's comparable to Star Wars' Rey in every way. Brie Larson's acting is as wooden as the trailer. The movie itself has a very slow and confusing first hour and a half, picked up at the last 30mins, but it's too late. If this is the new face of MCU, then it's the Star Wars all over again.

Don't recommend, wait for rental.

A solid addition to MCU - Far better than I expected

I went into this movie mainly expecting to fill in a plot hole in Avengers: Endgame. What I got was far better. Marvel's finally caught on to the fact that we need more genuinely badass female heroes. With all due respect to Scarlett Johanssen, my wife and I agreed that Black Widow's main superpower seemed to be wearing a low-cut top - it was just distracting how sexualized female characters can get. We both appreciated Wonder Woman because she was powerful and not constantly in an over-the-top skimpy outfit, not to mention her character was motivated by compassion and justice, in addition to being fearless. The same is true of Captain Marvel, though I don't think it was quite as good as Wonder Woman. But as a father to both boys and girls, I feel confident in taking them both to watch this movie.

Medium at best

The start of the was very different, to the point that I got confused. Then there is some nice build up on Kree but the villain is very predictable and not even close to her level. The humor is good, but not great and not innovative, but that is OK. Then at the end of the movie she goes from mediocre tot ultra powerfull within minutes ( of you thought thors transformation in ragnarok was nog you better wait). The film is meant as an origin story of capt. Marvel, because the villain is so weak compared to her that all the fights are beyond boring, but the one thing they fail to explain is the most important one, why can she be so powerfull... In my eyes she is almost an exact copy of DC's superman. Nevertheless, I expected a terrible film and that was not the case. Its enoyable, but not up to par.

Probably Not a 10, but definitly Not a 6!

A different Marvel movie, but a good one. Honestly, it was fun to watch. We had applause at the end of the movie, nothing i experienced before. Don't Feed the trolls and enjoy this Endgame-pre-event.

A Whole Lotta Nothing

This movie was better than anticipated based on the boring trailers but at the same time was exactly as I anticipated. This movie was mostly an incoherent, emotionless, good CGI movie.

The good was Sam Jackson, Lashanna Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, and Annette Benning. These people brought normalcy to the movie. Basically, they acted like normal hu(wo)man beings. The main problem was Bree Larson, she was...lets say stoic throughout the movie. Because of her stoicness, you cannot relate to her, find her endearing, or really understand who what she is.

The people that I liked in the movie did not have a lot of screen time excluding Jackson and Mendelsohn. Lashanna Lynch brought emotion to the movie however Bree didn't reciprocate. So their relationship lacked heart and feelings.

Battle scenes were boring mostly because CM was essentially OP. Although the movie was supposed to be a journey for the viewers and CM, there really was not enough back story for us to understand how and why she's wielding all this power. When she realizes she has all this power and she's ready to wield it, there is no climax for the viewers because the story wasn't told well. The adversity she faced as a kid, as an air force member, as a pilot is really never driven into the story but just glossed over. So when you see the scene from the trailers when Danvers/CM picks herself up from the ground in all the different instances in her life, there is no true payoff. Also, no ones lives really felt like they were in true danger at any point in the movie.

I don't know why people loved Goose. The cat wasn't bad, but the cat didn't do much except for a few good/funny scenes.

I rate this movie so low because Marvel just missed the whole dartboard. It's unbelievable that they talked CM up and this is what we get. This movie is in the MCU not the DCEU, so I don't know how they could have messed it up this bad. This movie is a precursor for End Game which is going to put an end to the gigantic and AWESOME story of the AVENGERS. And this is what we get!!!! We have the awesome movies of Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Civil War, Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Infinity War and this is what we get!!! I truly do not understand why people would say that they're excited for the next phase of the MCU. Don't get me wrong, the next phase of the MCU may be great, but this outing surely does not bode well for the future. If Marvel truly did a better job of telling the origin story for CM and if Bree had some personality, the movie would be so much better.

Very funny and cool movie!

One of the funniest movies of the MCU! Really well done, the story is well told and it unveils with a very interesting and different timing. Brie is really unapologetic awesome in the role, and it is a breath of fresh air to have a female hero with her own movie. Samuel L. Jackson is for me, the best part of the movie by being so naturally funny. Cat lovers will relate, no doubt! Can't wait to see Avenger's End Game!

Worst movie, in history of MARVEL

No spoilers here, but that doesn't give me a lot to explain.

I thought Captain Marvel was very well done. Based on the original comics, there is some suspended belief required as changes were made. I also felt the time line with certain things with in the movie had been shuffled around.

If you can forgive this, and watch it with an open mind, I believe the movie was well done, her emotion is what will make her a great addition to the Marvel world. I am looking forward to seeing more of her in upcoming Avenger movies.

Frankly I feel so far the reviews are lower here then they should be. Many of the Marvel movies had man changes in time line, but still kept the essence of the characters. It is a must see if you are a Marvel fan, and you judge! I thought it was well written, well directed.

Unfortunately not what I was hoping for

Unfortunately the movie is not what I hoping for based on the other Marvel movies. I loved Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot and I thinking it might be in that vein. But the character didn't seem to come naturally to Brie Larson. Her acting was somewhat wooden.

All this bad review on the internet made me think is it really that bad. I even had some negative thoughts myself .But the movie proved everyone wrong..It is indeed a good film with twist that comic fan never saw coming .It answers all the questions about Nick fury's eye and how he had the idea about the Avengers . Loved seeing Colsen in the big screen too .I rate it 7.8

Marvels first stand alone female makes her statement

It's a great 2 hours and 5 minutes of top notch marvel story telling . It's fast , it's frantic and damn right enjoyable . The humour you come to expect from marvel movies is in abundance . The characters were likeable and played their parts very well . Brie Larson is a star in this role , she just looks like she's having the time of her life . Samuel L Jackson is once again superb as Nick Fury . I really cannot wait to watch this again, and the cat "goose" well ..... just go see it and see . Roll on End Game .

This film is one of the worst marvel movies ever! The humor is just forced,NOT FUNNY AT ALL The actors are doing a good job but the writing is horrible. The most important aspect of the movie are the after credits every thing else is ruined by the bad humor. In my opinion the movie has potential but the writing and the forced jokes kill the movie especially the feminist undertone is very annoying.

Poorly executed

As a huge fan kick ass women in action/sci-fi movies, I was really hoping to add this to the ever growing collection of great movies with great heros. Some of my favorite female protagonists include River Tam(Serenity/Firefly), Sarah Connor, Wonder Woman, and recently Alita: Battle Angel. I was really excited when I heard about Cpt. Marvel was coming out. I wasn't excited because I loved the character(honestly I never really got in to comics), I just think girl superheros are really fun.

While watching Captain Marvel I just couldn't really get aboard, there wasn't really any character growth and the character was never phased by anything. I didn't recognize the actress that plays Captain Marvel but that didn't work for me personally. She seemed like she has potential for other types of roles but seemed really out of place here.

The action sequences fell really flat. The movie takes place in the 90's, which was made painfully obvious through several bad jokes, but the action an CGI didn't have to resemble the technology of 1995.

Storywise I found myself not caring what happened, we know she's showing up in Endgame already. Know that i think about it, why the hell would they choose a new character to swoop in and steal the thunder from all of the great characters we've grown to love. My personal favorite is Iron Man. I said before that I dont follow the comics, but Robert Downey Jr. Made me a fan of that character. It seems like an insult that such an amazing cast will be over shadowed by such a shallow character that emotiinally has nowhere to go. This year has helped me realize that i can't trust professionally film critics to tell me where to put my money. With my family, the bill is always over 100 dollars so I'm going to make sure to check the audience score, which tends to match my taste more.

What a bore this movie is... it is beyond my understanding how a major studio can deliver a movie that combines (i) a hero with almost zero character and unlikable, (ii) an antagonist with no strength of threat whatsoever, (iii) superpowers defying imagination, obtained for no reasons or after no struggle, (iv) plot contrivancies, (v) poor supporting characters.

Even if the delivery is good (marvel style), the movie is overall incredibly poor for a movie of such a budget and ambition.

Probably the MCU movie to avoid if there is one...
