This episode is great and different!
eladamittai18 May 2020
It wasn't a typical episode. It had less jokes (still was funny) and more emotion. This episode had some really interesting messages about society, and relationships, but with the south park spin on it while still being a more serious episode. Overall, really great!

Well.... now i felt season 21 started

Finally, One of the best episodes since last season. Since start of this episode, its bang on. Satire for current Affairs, funny and some serious message, these were the quality that make me fond of this series. Hope remaining episodes will be better or at least same as this one

They're back!

Warning: Spoilers
Unlike the debut episode of season 21 this one has a lot of positive things. Where do I start? Mmm...

Yes, the fact of not focus the entire chapter only on Randy or Cartman. Tweek has always been an unique character and you can easily check it from that funny first scene. So him, right?

Oh, and thanks Matt & Trey, now I cannot listen to Logic's "1-800" without member Cartman and his catchy anti-suicide campaign. South Park shines on one of the best things they can do: A Parody.

The ending and that "President's fault" justifying the stupidity of people who use the cell phone while driving was instantly a classic and the song pretty well done.

So yes, South Park still on top after 20 years and we're proud of it. Keep the good work guys!

Amazing episode with insightful social commentary and impressive character development
pierrout_fou30 April 2021
Rather than repressing his feelings or telling him he was being unreasonable, Tweek needed others to affirm the intense anxiety he was experiencing. Craig did exactly that, and Tweek was able to regain control of himself and overcome his anxiety on his own terms as a result of Craig's affirmation.

To be honest, I believe this episode contained an insightful social commentary on existing attitudes toward young people with mental health issues. Although Cartman definitely has his share of problems, he isn't suicidal in the least. I thought his story was a biting critique of popstars and celebrities exploiting highly topical subjects like suicide awareness to gain publicity, whereas children like Tweek, who actually suffer from mental health issues and may be at risk, are forced to hide their illnesses. Mental health problems that have been dramatized and romanticized are hip and trendy. But dealing with actual real mental health problems is stressful and exhausting, as Craig has discovered.

Perfection!!
Decypher6 October 2017
THIS is the South Park that makes me a loyal fan. Satire is supposed to both provoke people AND make you laugh.. this episode is GOLD. The way they wrote about two serious topics and made it funny is great. I hope Trey Parker and Matt Stone keep going for years to come.. I want more! :)

Loved it!
ericstevenson20 September 2017
My "South Park" reviews have mostly been hated, but I'll keep reviewing the show anyway. I admit to having some bias in loving this episode because it tackled a very important issue to me. That is, the threat that North Korea is putting against the country. The episode begins with Tweak going even crazier than usual upon being scared of all that North Korea is doing. The President is making things worse by daring them to literally attack him. I was reassured by this episode as I know of North Korea's many test nukes but they have yet to actually use them against anyone and I doubt they will.

For some reason, Mr. Garrison doesn't seem to be the President anymore. It looks like it's actually Donald Trump as President here. The animation was really quite good too. The scene where the first car crash occurs is really quite beautifully done. In a show that can be made in a single week, that's really saying something. I laughed when Tweak was called a homosexual by the news. We get more continuity as the PC principal has a larger role here. Those fidget spinners really are pretty cool. ****

Everything South Park needed!
dededenny26 September 2017
I was not really that excited during the 20th season and was a bit worried when episode 1 aired of season 21. This episode showed, that they can put a little bit of political problems combined with the kids having trouble without going to deep into political stuff. Especially the song at the end made this an A+ episode for me!

Decent episode, but MAN it's got problems
sed-2666921 September 2017
This episode is pretty decent, and a big improvement over the previous episode. I find the Tweek and Craig part to be very funny and entertaining, something I haven't felt in a new South Park episode since at least season 19. The President's tweets are pretty crass and funny, but they aren't overused. It's funny how they put fidget spinners in the plot. The episode isn't as heavy-handed as something from season 20. But that's where the positives end. The thing stopping this episode from being truly great is Cartman. He comes off as a self-serving douche, and not in an interesting way like most of his episodes before season 16 were. He uses suicide threats to try and get what he wants, and none of it is justified. It's just him being selfish. I can imagine a few people getting offended by this episode just for that. I'd give it a light 7, as the plots do blend pretty well.

The best episode South Park has done in a very long time
juandiegogarciaruiz21 September 2017
I wasn't a big fan of season 20, the season lacked variety and it got really messy by the second half. Season 19 was actually good IMO but didn't have an episode which stood out from the others. IMO this was the best episode of South Park since Season 18's Cock Magic. They have made the characters Tweek and Craig much more interesting and provided great social commentary on an issue happening right now. I honestly didn't really like last episode "White People Renovating Houses", the plot didn't make much sense and it wasn't really all that funny, but this was a much bigger improvement. This episode also had two great musical numbers, especially the one in the end. The only problem I had with this episode was that Cartman's side story didn't have much to do with the rest of the episode. This episode gave me hope for the upcoming episodes of this season.

Your SLIP is showiing!!
beauleaumail13 November 2022
The episode as a whole is pretty good. Specifically the parts about dealing with mental issues in any kind of relationship. Being able to empathize is a very important thing, and in this country most people seem so caught up in self worship they are too busy to notice anyone not on the screen of an electronic device. The ending however was such a reach to massage the political scrotum of the left. Yes, maybe some things are better left off social media but where was this preachy garbage during the last administration. The previous PREZ, in his 2nd term had way more postings, and said way more offensive stuff. It was just directed at a different group. So that's ok I guess. I still love the show but where is the greats like "RAINFORST" where a beautiful Jenifer Aniston gives us a new look at the world. South Park was a show that let us see the world with new, Fresh eyes, Like a breath of fresh air on a crisp fall day. Like "The Red Badge of Gayness" OR :Cherokee hair Tampons" I always felt refreshed after every show. Now every show seeps to come from a California echo chamber. Maybe they need to move back to Colorado to get some perspective back but the newer shows are not objective like when the show began, or even the first 16yrs of the show. One thing I do know, If this continues the fan base from the beginning will not say forever. I understand we all need to grow but the growth of people can be manipulate like a tree and if the growth is forced too much it becomes more of a problem than a beautiful aesthetic or may even kill itself off. Please don't kill off a great part of our history. One of the only things left alive from the grunge age.

Episode 2102
bobcobb3014 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The "song" about the chaos in the world had me laughing. Sometimes obvious humor works and they did do a solid job of parodying the derangement syndrome we see in the world right now.

It started to fall apart in the middle of the episode and at the end, but much funnier than the season premiere.

Preechy, Not Funny
dhierholzer21 September 2017
This Episode really scares me about the direction that South Park is headed. South Park for a long time, now has all been satire comedy. This I am completely fine with! I think it is great to take today's current events and problems and make fun of them! This episode failed at this, when the episode started it caught my attention, talking about north Korea and Texting and Driving are both 2 topics that you COULD make some good jokes about. But just like last season, South Park is now more focused on keeping up with their past episodes than they are creating a funny show. For example, this whole episode was Cartman and his girlfriend arguing and then calling each other babe. And then plot line 2 was all about Craig and Tweak fighting and then calling each other babe. Just Because South Park makes an episode where something happens (such as tweek and craig being forced to be gay together s19e06), does NOT mean that they have to continue the joke. Especially when they continue it like this did on this episode meaning it brought no comedy value to the table whatsoever. This Episode also had two songs in it. While I am not opposed to South Park having songs in the episodes because Trey is actually a pretty good musician, I think it at least needs to have some comedy value instilled into it. Look at s13e01 The Ring, That is the one with the Jonas Brothers. The Song Trey makes up is super funny because it shows how corny the Jonas Brothers really are. The Suicide song on this episode on the other hand was just about how cool they could make Cartman look while talking about himself. But the comedy aspect was not there. I am beginning to look at Cartman like I have looked at Homer Simpson for some time now. A really really strong character that the creators completely sell out! For example, when The Simpsons were still really good, Homer did something new and inventive every episode. We watched to see what new things he was capable of. The same goes with Cartman on the classic South Park episodes. But now, everything about Cartman is about who he is (the name he has for himself), instead of what he does. It is like they are just now riding on his popularity instead of making him do something completely insane and original. He is less cunning now a days and more of just a whiny little B. He has always been whiny, but when it was matched with his pure cunning and evil, it created great balance. I just do not see that in him anymore.

You just had to make it political
ricas_ws22 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously they are running out of ideas risking to puss off half a country but make the rest of the world laugh. This whole episode was degrading Trump's image in the sense that his tweets are dangerous and may even cost lives.

What a load of crap.

It's really better than first episode. Talking about serious problems as North Korea and suicides. Still it's too mixed and hard to track the plot.

Preachy political "fun"
kebakent21 September 2017
Last episode, they spent the entire time making fun of rednecks, and promoting Amazon's Alexa product. Cartman's relationship, was a big boring subplot.

This episode, they spent the entire episode mocking Trump, following a boring homosexual relationship, and preaching safe driving. I don't think they ever included Kim Jong Un before, so it was disappointing to see them waste the material like this. He is a tiny angry Asian, the jokes practically write themselves.

I hear Apple made a new iPhone, maybe South Park will promote that in the next episode, with a nice message of remembering to recycle. Wouldn't that be fun.

Disappointing
bfleury21 September 2017
What is this, a Saturday morning cartoon from the 1970s? This episode was boring, predicable, and preachy. No spoilers, you have to see it for yourself. I was so excited to see this episode because last season was incredible and the first episode of this season was amazing. This one is a clinker, possibly the worst South Park I can remember.
