The Sincerest Form of Flattery
bobcobb30130 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Probably the finest episode of the show to date. A lot of flashbacks, but they told a strong story of how a person got to the point they are at from start to finish. That is what this program needed, an episode that felt even more like The Americans on FX than it usually does.

High-quality, enjoyable, and the change of pace Counterpart has needed.

How and Why
Hitchcoc24 February 2020
Focusing on Clare, we see how the venom developed by the Prime universe came to be. Did the original universe actually cause the epidemic with malice aforethought, or was it happenstance? And the creating of a little girl for the purposes of revenge and destruction seemed to be more the actions of a few than a culture set on destroying another world. We still need to know these things. But Clare's infiltration was utterly captivating.

No Emily, Ian, Anna and only 4 minutes of Howard. Great!

Instead of focussing on the relationships between the main actors, there was an excursus about Claire this week. 4 minutes of Howard and neither Emily nor any other one of interest. Well, the ten points are only my homage to the ignorant establishment and not the real score for this mess.

It's all making perfect sense, now!

A lot was explained in this episode. The series has definitely proven itself as exceptional sci fi, and I look forward to a long life and many years ahead with it.

Unfortunately, too many critics and faux sci fi aficionados are too dumb to get the better books, movies, and series, expecting only lasers and space explosions for their attention...

The episode that broke it for me.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the needed background episode on Claire.

It has some unusual twists in it and a few of the sci-fi posing questions that will trouble your mind.

Sadly I am over Quayle's games and over this series after the very poor and rushed last episode. Not seeing a recovery.

Not a bad episode, but lacks credibility
sanchezghp1 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this series, especially the acting. Something I regret though, is the lack of credibility of the script sometimes. For instance, how come Quayle has such a high position if he's so clearly unable to keep his mouth shut? I just can't believe it.

Waste of an Episode
bmorrow16 March 2018
This is why I have a hard time watching cable and Netflix shows. There are very few episodes each season which makes it even more irritating when they waste one. I did not need to see a complete backstory on one of the least interesting characters. I'm barely a fan of backstories on the best characters when you have so few episodes. They gave Clare the same story they give all these spy types. She was a good person who was forced to do bad things. I could have guessed that without a 40 minute explanation. Any time you only have about three minutes of the main character being onscreen in an episode there is a problem. I wish they would stop making these cable shows so good, so I can stop only having it for about ten episodes then having to wait close to a year to see it again. I wouldn't be so mad if they were wasting one out of like twenty-four episodes. Knowing more about the characters might even be a welcome addition even though Clare's story would probably still bore me since it's used so much. I'm giving it four stars for about the four minutes of the episode that actually interested me. That's how great the overall show Counterpart is.

The Sincerest Form of Flattery
dreamingescapist20 July 2019
After the mole with high-level clearance inside the Agency is revealed we go back in time and witness how the other side schools their super spies.

'The Sincerest Form of Flattery' is the first real origin story of a side character where we learn the whole character arc with one episode. It also gives the twist of turning one of the episodic characters into the main player, and an integral part of the whole story. Intense cat and mouse game that simultaneously takes place in the past and the present. It also gives many answers to the viewers while opening new problems and possibilities for the characters.

It is amazing how 'Counterpart' continues to use all the tropes of the spy genre but manages to do this somewhat refreshing way.

The best and the worst episode.
avnrulz18 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
While the backstory fills in some gaps of the other side, some of the decisions made by the characters show poor judgment (Clare Prime going out and banging a stranger forgoes the possibility of catching an infection!).

So...were the first 6 episodes just a preparation
jpapanone8 August 2021
For an absolute snooze fest bore that is episode 7.

Jeezus. Happily...I got through it in about 20 minutes since I just skipped through most of it.
