Inspirational and timely!
fish1288127 December 2020
What a year 2020 has been, but thankfully Suffer For Good comes in at the tail and brings a really inspiring story that could not be more timely. Seb's journey to the U.S. and far is quite the rollercoaster and his fight to persevere is a rare find in any person, and it's all very well told in this documentary! The film has a look that is quite defining and the editing brings urgency and zen in equal measure to Seb's mantra. Just a fantastic watch overall!

This is my favorite film I have ever worked on. Seb is truly an inspiration and as soon as I heard his story I had to become part of the project. I couldn't be more proud to bring this story to the world. If you want a heartwarming, inspirational and exciting story to boost your 2020 experience try this one!

America
MBJetexas12 March 2021
This a terrific Documentary by director Danny Simmons. It opens with a visual homage to Raging Bull which sets the film up for a story of triumph, adversity, tenacity, and the opportunity for everyone which is uniquely American. Seb Zewdie's journey from Africa to the United States and the dreams which highlight his story. All Americans have had ancestors or they themselves had experiences like Seb. This isn't a film about winning but of dreams. The 70 minutes is well spent and uplifting.

Inspiring

Suffer for Good is such an inspiring, beautifully put together film. It reflects the relatable and brave experience of immigrants coming to the US to achieve the American Dream, but also situates the story within its particular historical and political context. It gives insight into one man's life and Olympic-level athleticism and how he continues to inspire and train many world class athletes with the message to never give up on your dreams. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Fulfilling A Dream

Dreams may come and go but what stays is the life and what you make of it. If you need a movie that motivates you to change or keep on the same path toward your own dream, then Seb's story will take you there. What a wonderful film depicting hardships and love. Suffer for Good is a documentary I'll watch over and over!

Seb is a hero!
brokendoveproductions2 April 2021
We love you Seb! This film tells the epic tale of Seb Zewdie's journey from Ethiopia to the States as an Olympic boxer who was affected by the cold war, famine, and family tragedy. Seb is a personification of the American dream in every way. His son Matti really shines and I'm grateful to watch this hard hitting boxing/MMA documentary.

The BEST MOVIE EVER
efebereket2 April 2021
This is honestly the best documentary movie I have ever seen. It's so motivational. You have to work hard at whatever you are going to do. It doesn't matter if it's sports or if you are trying to start a business. You will have to put the time and effort at whatever you want to do.

A great, real life story that shows what you can accomplish by never giving up. Struggling through tough times, leaving family behind in Ethiopia to create a new life in one of the toughest cities in America; Seb Zewdie shows that hard work and determination can deliver the achievements you are seeking in life. Suffer for Good will knock you out!

Great visual style
jaysalahi31 August 2021
Well edited and paced. Kept me entertained, the visuals were fresh and not the same thing over and over again. The cinematography was great, liked the dutch angels and harsh lighting, good use of drone footage adding in scale and I liked that like little fantasy world boxing ring, in like the spotlight/silhouette. I thought it was really well done.

Kinda had a Lords of Dogtown meets Friday Night Lights.

Heartwarming!

Seb's journey is inspiring and uplifting. His mantra 'suffer for good' is relatable in many ways. I feel honored to know his story and see how his legacy continues to motivate others. This documentary is beautifully done and does not shy away from talking about mental health and overcoming obstacles to achieve big dreams. Where do I sign up for front row tickets to his next fight??

This is such a well done documentary!

It deserves so much more notoriety, I can't believe how under the radar it still is.

The story is so inspiring and I was blown away when I found out it was independently made!!

Great work!

This film was recommended to us by a friend. We really enjoyed this film. We don't usually see too many indies but plan to see more. The story was well told without embellishment (refreshing). The viewer doesn't have to know a lot about boxing in order to appreciate such a well-produced and well-told story. Kudos to the young director, Danny Simmons, and his team. We will look forward to more from him.

Proof that you don't need ESPN to make a 30 for 30

This is a great little doc, about a boxer that struggled to achieve his Olympic dreams only to have them dashed by no fault of his own.

The subject is handled with deep empathy and sensitivity.

Definitely worth a watch!
