Age gap
heleneeide-2526912 July 2017
Why do they cast actors that is supposed to be mother and daughter that has basically no age difference. 9 years, they look like siblings not mother and daughter. It hurts my brain watching

I am not saying they are bad actors or anything, but is there no older female actors. Do they always have to be around 20-30. The 20 year old pretending to be younger and the 30 year old to be the mom

Watchable, but predictable and generic...
paul_haakonsen28 November 2022
I have to admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any high expectations for this 2017 Lifetime thriller as I sat down to watch it late in 2022.

First of all, I had never heard about the movie, bnot that is a hindrance for watching it, but the movie's title was really corny. A poorly selected title, which sort of sends a false impression about the movie-

The storyline in "Daughter for Sale", as written by Vesta Giles, turned out to be interesting enough. Sure, it was fairly generic for a Lifetime movie, but it made for an adequate enough viewing. Though, it should be said that you pretty much know how the entire movie will play out before you watch it. So director Farhad Mann wasn't exactly delivering a spectacular thriller here.

The acting performances in "Daughter for Sale" were fair enough, taking into considerations the limitations of the script and all.

While "Daughter for Sale" was watchable enough, this is by no means a movie that warrants more than a single viewing. And I know what I will not be returning to watch it a second time.

If you enjoy Lifetime movies, then give "Daughter for Sale" a chance.

My rating of "Daughter for Sale" lands on a four out of ten stars.

How to slaughter an important issue
MichMovies12 July 2017
Someone wrote it was a nice popcorn movie for mother/daughter to watch...really???

The actors are somewhat the worst, normally I wouldn't care but with the importance of fighting trafficking this wasn't OK. A horrendous movie to watch. Overacting deluxe and spoiling it all.

Don't bother - it's too ridiculous to be even slightly believable
phd_travel14 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This LMN movie is pretty ridiculous even by TV movie standards. First of all you have this judge who talks rather un judge like. Her daughter runs away after a fight and then gets kidnapped by a sex trafficker who happens to pose as a man who helps runaway teens. Then this so called judge breaks all protocol and begins a crusade to take down of sex trafficking ring and get back her daughter.

This is no Taken Lifetime style. It's just bad.

Horrible
anneejoseph23 July 2017
The plot of this movie was the most poorly developed I have seen for a longgg time. The actors were not horrible but the cheap one liners, sub par directing and inadequate character development made this a regrettable watch. Lifetime often produces half- baked movies but this one is really disappointing.

improbable and badly played

A 26-year-old teenager and her 9-year-old mother who is a judge despite obvious incompetence and who turns into a vigilante who does not know the fear, it should be an episode of the 6th dimension!

Total train wreck

Fakest movie I've ever seen.

Laughable at best despite the subject matter. I felt embarrassed just watching it.

Here Comes the Judge!
lavatch15 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Annalise O'Neill has been appointed the newest and youngest judge in the state. But just as she about to put on the robes, her daughter Carly is abducted. A rebellious teen, Carly had an argument with her mom and ran away. But before she could even make her getaway, Carly was picked up by a human trafficking ring. The race is now on to find Carly.

A major shortcoming of the film was the lack of credibility in the judge, who took matters into her own hands to find her daughter. The ex-husband of Annalise is a detective working the case. The judge knows that her ex, Derek Sutton would completely compromise the case by discussing it with her. Yet she ignores his advice, forces the issue, and nearly loses her daughter in the process.

It was also a stretch to believe that the villain of the film, a nefarious creature with the inappropriate name of John Gallant, would go on TV along with the judge to make a plea to the captors to release Carly. He is warned about this by his able assistant, a woman he rescued from the streets; but he ignores her advice.

Working with her colleague, Donna Johanson, Annalise obtains a firearm and makes a mad dash to rescue Carly in the film's climactic scene. Again, it strained credibility to think that Donna and Annalise could outwit and overpower the thugs.

While the film developed a moving theme about a mom's devotion to her daughter, there were too many scenes that misfired in the area of naturalism. Perhaps the biggest flaw was that it was simply never convincing that Annalist O'Neill was a judge.

One of the worst Lifetime Movies I've ever seen
allie_akers1 September 2021
Bad acting all around (especially the mother.) Very sloppy all around, no bonds/genuine relationships between any of the characters. The mother and daughter had no dialogue besides fighting.

Started Off Relatively Well but Became a Bit Too Unrealistic About Halfway Through
Uriah4329 May 2023
This film essentially begins with a woman by the name of "Annalise O'Neil" (Emily Rose) hosting a party at her home to celebrate her recent appointment as a judge. It's during that time that she and her spoiled teenage daughter Carly O'Neil" (Emily Tennant) get into an argument which results in Carly running away from home several minutes later. A couple of hours later, while wandering alone on the street at night, Carly is kidnapped by a sex-trafficking ring and subsequently held in a confined area with other young girls to be auctioned off to on-line buyers in the very near future. Quite naturally, not knowing where her daughter is and having become increasingly concerned about her safety, Annalise immediately contacts the local police only to discover that the detective in charge of the case named "Derek Sutton" (Chris Calhoun) adamantly refuses to divulge any information about the case due to concerns that it might compromise his long-running investigation into a specific sex-trafficking operation. Because of that, Annalise then turns to a local halfway house for troubled teens run by a man named "Antonio Culpo" (John Gallant) who, unlike Detective Sutton, promises to keep her informed on any information he receives. What Annalise doesn't realize, however, is that one of these men is actually involved in this sex-trafficking ring and whatever information she uncovers as a judge to further the sale of her daughter. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this movie started off relatively well but became somewhat unrealistic halfway through the film. That being said, while it certainly wasn't a great film by any means, it wasn't terribly bad either and for that reason I have rated it accordingly. Slightly below average.

I hate this movie
mohddashanmdgm26 December 2022
This is one the worst movies I have watched lately.... it is extremely bad on every level there is... For the love of god don't waste your time on it, it doesn't worth a second of your time.

I hated every second of it.... the script and acting was so bad, it felt like watching these fake Facebook videos.
