Very different
Abdulxoxo24 December 2020
This episode is grim, dark and nightmarish, as it put Ash in a horrible, bleak dilemma that he cant fight with quips and chainsaws. I like this episode 'cause we get to see Ash questions his morals, and all that he's done, it says something his character arc in whole.

All in all, A quite unique episode that's well-acted, Bruce Campbell nails it as Ash as usual and Dlorenza she totally sell it as the psychopathic inmate. The technical aspects are all satisfactory. The next episode is going to be diabolical with Ash now agreeing to destroy the necronomicon.

Puppets? I hate puppets! Even stunningly handsome ones

Warning: Spoilers
Pointless episodes? We hate pointless episodes! Even full of Ash ones.

This could be the recap of episode seven of season two, "Delusion", where we have Ash in a mental hospital, Baal trying to convince him that all that has happened since the first movie is part of Ash's delusions, and that he has been a patient in the hospital since he killed his sister and the rest of people so many years ago. It would have been actually kind of fun if it was real and the show was playing a 180 degree turnaround, but we all know that it is actually Baal playing tricks and trying to brainwash Ash.

Sadly, if this had lasted like 5 minutes, it would have been fine, but we get 25 minutes of Ash in the hospital, strapped to a chair, watching TV, shouting, trying to break free... Not very interesting at all. You don't need 25 minutes to convince the viewer that Ash has been (or not) brainwashed, and we just get... nothing. Blood and violence for the sake of blood and violence, not funny quotes or moments, not character arc development... Baal is, sadly, not very interesting anyway.

"Delusion" is delusional and, right now, "Ash vs Evil Dead" is going nowhere at all.

Who asked for different?
BA_Harrison3 February 2019
After lots of episodes that have relied on an excess of blood and gross out humour, Delusion tries something a little different. But who asked for different? Not me... I was more than happy with the excess of blood and gross out humour.

Ash wakes up in an asylum, which, according to his psychiatrist Doctor Peacock (Joel Tobeck), has been his home ever since the psychotic break that saw him murder his friends and sister. At first Ash is sure that all of this is a delusion created by Baal, but by the end of the (uneventful) episode, he has been convinced that the Necronomicon is all in his mind and that he must 'destroy' the book in order to recover.

Gore: Pablo's mangled face and Kelly missing her jaw. Amusing dialogue: Can't really recall any. Overall diagnosis: The worst episode so far.

Tiresome

Warning: Spoilers
One of those 'bottle' episodes and I didn't care for it much. A change of pace as the whole thing takes place in Ash's head in the interior of an asylum. Some gore but generally tiresome and overacted throughout.

Huh?

Okay, what happened here? First episode I've not liked. Did someone think this was a good idea to give us a completely different entity to what we like and are accustomed to?

No more of this, let's go back to the gorefest with jokes!
