This film is about an East German lady and her brother who are incarcerated in a West German psychiatric facility following their escape from the East. Their relationship is unhealthy and she cannot live without having her brother in tow everywhere--as if she's a mother hen watching one of her chicks!
I saw "A Photo of Us" at the Orlando Film Festival just a few days ago. What really impresses me about this short is the acting--and it's stellar throughout. For this reason alone I recommend you see the film. As for the exact meaning, this is a bit vague. I think I know the key to the film (I assumed for much of the film that the brother died and is NOT present even though you see him--he is his sister's delusion). But it's never 100% clear if this is the case--and I am sure many viewers will argue about this.
