Outstanding Episode, The Plot line Becomes More Intriguing and Mysterious
jocolbe523 December 2013
Episode 4, "Don't Kill the Messenger", is the most powerful and intriguing episode so far in the Before the Dark series. Vlad's visions are becoming more intense and it was revealed that he kept a journal to be passed to the next Carpathian vessel, a journal that apparently never reached Mikhail Dubinsky's hands.

With each episode, we see more layers to this mysterious puzzle start to reveal an even bigger picture. Not only does prince Vlad have to deal with the vampire threat and a possible war with the lycans and threat of the deadly Sange rau; he is also weighted down with a decision he may be forced to take as he comes to the realization about his first born son and the threat his son poses to the survival of the Carpathian people.

Nate and John really are doing an amazing job as Vladimir Dubrinsky and Roman Dartraznoff, when they are in the scene together they dominate the scene with their powerful performances. I can't wait to see more of Roman, he and Vlad would be proud of the honorable men theirs sons have become.

Hopefully, by the end of the series we will find out who is in possession of this very important journal. I am hoping these wonderful webisodes will be the launching of a television series with the very talented John Wells and Nate Merritt in the title roles as patriarchs of the Dubrinsky and Daratrazanoff families in contemporary times. These two actors embody the essence of the Carpathian mythology. Exquisitely done; I can't wait for the next episode to be released.

Ep. 4 Don't Kill The Messenger

Warning: Spoilers
The plot thickens as we get to know Vlad Dubrinsky and the decisions he made good or bad that effect the future of the Carpathians as a species. Vlad is torn between being a Prince, Lifemate and father. How do you choose between possibly saving your people at the cost of destroying your ill son? We've been introduced to a journal that Vlad was writing to pass on to his successor. Who will it be? Draven who may be a psychopath or your younger son Mikhail who isn't prepared to rule? What happen to the journal? What's inside the journal that could've help Mikhail in the present?

We also see the friendship between Roman and Vlad and how Vlad tolerates Roman when he steps over the line. They are true friends, brothers, comrades in arms. Roman is trying to give Vlad the time to tell him what's going on when I think Roman is aware of Draven's violence tendencies. Stay tune for ep.5 The Enemy of My Enemy.

Best so far.

Warning: Spoilers
These mini webisodes keep getting better and better. Both John and Nate are doing an outstanding job in bringing the feel of the Carpathian men to life. Christine Feehans readers have been given a great gift. I am very excited to see how Vlad and Roman's relationship will hold up to the secrets and visions we see unfolding. Thanks to Sheila, Christine, John, Nate and the rest of the BTD crew for taking the time to bring the pre-series story to life for us. We as avid readers already know how the story ends for Vlad and Roman, but their sons are so much like them that they will live on forever in our hearts. I am so excited to see how these mini's will bring the story line together with the Lycan trilogy.

Adding vexing insights to an awesome plot.

This was an excellent addition to the Before the Dark webisodes, it put more light on the tangled maze, and added vexing new insights to the plot and should not be missed. The actors did a great job in portraying a our beloved Carpathians. I would like to give a big shout out to John and Nate for this job. The tension between Vlad and Roman was very real to me and I loved that. The elusive sinister creature following Hemming was interesting. I would like to see more of Draven, he is getting worse and Vlad is so torn with a promise made to Sarantha. This mine series adds so much depth to the Dark series and I have to give Christine Feehan and Sheila a big thank you for bring this to life. Don't Kill the Messenger is an other hit for the series. I am looking forward to reading Dark Wolf to deepen the plot.
