SAM'S MEDAL is a British animated short about the misadventures of a soldier commended for bravery after a battle. The animation is quite basic and seems heavily influenced by American animators of the era, but the strength here lies in the narration of Stanley Holloway, who tells the whole story in humorous rhyme in a thick Yorkshire accent. He's most amusing.

Sam's Medal

If it was not for Stanley Holloway's rhyming narration. This early black and white animation could easily pass an an American cartoon short.
Sam's Medal tells the story of a soldier who gets a medal for bravery from the king. However when the king hears the real reason for the heroics, he is not best pleased.
This is an example of early British animation. It is a rarity and Holloway's narration gives it a uniquely British hue.
